Research

Permanently curious

The world around us is constantly changing. In order to respond effectively to the changing social context in our plans, we believe it is important to continuously learn and innovate. We are curious about what people do and how they behave, and that motivates us. With every project, we gain new knowledge and experience that we can apply to the next assignment. And we conduct our own research.

Powerhouses
textbook example

We investigated how a school can contribute to strengthening the community. And vice versa: how can a neighborhood or area give a boost to the learning environment? With CSG Augustinus secondary school, we discovered surprising prospects for the future. Our research is published in the book Schoolvoorbeeld.

Schoolvoorbeeld is an initiative of the Municipality of Groningen, in collaboration with KAW architects and De Zwarte Hond.

Compaction of Bijlmer avenues

The Municipality of Amsterdam has asked SVP to conduct design research into densification in the post-war neighborhood of Bijlmer. The aim of this research is to visualize the development of a "new urbanity" in Bijlmer, with more city and more landscape. The combination of research and design provides an opportunity to "dream" about an attractive future for the avenues.

Powerhouses

What does it mean when we use garages to address the housing challenge? And specifically for young people without a home? It is desperately needed, because the number of homeless young people has tripled in the last 10 years. The Powerhouses study is the result of looking at this issue through this lens, in collaboration with the Ieder1 housing association.
